Automated Cantilever Sliding Gate 9m wide Installed in Canterbury

The installation process of an automated cantilever sliding gate in Elham, Canterbury by LSB Fencing & Decking. It was their biggest timber-clad gate installation to date, and they took care of all the necessary steps. This included the groundwork, concrete pad installation, gate installation, and cable running and connection for automation.

Ground works for Automated Cantilever Sliding Gate

LSB Fencing & Decking initiated the project by first marking the area. Next, they excavated four distinct holes for the concrete pads. Three of the holes were 1.2m x 1.2m and 600mm deep. The final pad was designated for the complete gate and measured 3.2m in length, 1.2m in width, and 600mm deep. Due to a substantial elevation difference in the ground, shuttering was assembled to support the pouring of concrete.

After the shuttering was set up, trenches were dug and ducting was installed to each pad to house the cables required for automation. LSB Fencing & Decking utilizes only top-quality automation equipment from FAAC, and they are authorized installers of all FAAC products.

After all shuttering and cables were securely in place, LSB Fencing & Decking proceeded to pour the concrete within the shuttering, ensuring a smooth and level finish. Once the concrete was fully set, the new gate portals were installed. this was done by marking their positions and drilling into the concrete to allow for resin-fixed threaded steel anchors. One of the gate portals had to be removed due to limited space. The remaining space was only just long enough to fit the gate, with a few millimeters to spare.

Gate Automation

After sliding the gate into the remaining portal, the second portal was repositioned, securely bolted down, and the gate was inserted. LSB Fencing & Decking then installed the opening and closing stop posts. With these elements in place, all automation equipment could be connected, enabling full automation of the gate. The end result was a fully automated sliding cantilever gate of the highest quality
