Heavy Duty Decking Installation with Joists and Decking support posts, after we removed an old existing rotten decking that was only 10 years old. The old decking had been well installed compared to some we see, but the materials used were no where near the standard of the Jacksons Decking System

The old materials that we removed had reached the end of their life, rot had well and truly set in. We see this style of install quite a lot, the subframe is in contact with ground and has no posts to concreted in. In contrast to our Heavy Duty Decking Installation, with nearly 100 Decking Support posts concreted into the ground at 600mm deep. This then allows the Decking Joists to run ‘in line’ through the top of support posts, fully supported and suspended from ground contact

Heavy Duty Decking Installation Process

We Install our frames to the highest of standards. Support posts spaced every 1.2m along the decking Joist, with Joists spaced at 600mm centres. This completely eradicates any possibility of the Joists sagging over time and causing low spots on the decking. This does create more labour and costs for things like concrete, but the 25 year anti rot Guarantee brings peace of mins that it won’t need replacing in another 10 years. Longevity is at the heart of all of our installs

After the installation of the subframe of support posts & Joists, we then installed some Heavy Duty Slotted posts around the edge, to allow for handrails. We would normally install Balustrade between these posts, but on this occasion it was a bespoke design. We installed decking Joists, cut to length between the posts and then topped with Heavy Duty Capping for Handrails. More joists could be added between the posts if required, but this wasn’t necessary. The drop down to next level wasn’t too far, so safety wasn’t a concern.

We then lay a Weed Suppressant membrane across the top of Joists to control any possible growth coming from beneath. We then cover with the Heavy Duty Decking Boards. These Decking boards are really thick and wide, available from 3m to 4.8m long
